What questions are likely to be asked in a Job Interview for a Furniture shop...?!?

Its a modern furniture shop - so i can imagine they'll ask what i reckon the shop represents, so im may reply 'Innovative yet comfortable and liveable furniture'. But what other sorts of questions may they ask?

Public Comments

  1. do you know what a couch is? are you familiar with chairs?
  2. Anything to do with customer service, e.g. how to deal with awkward customers, angry customers, customer complaints. How are you on maths - measurements, big furniture, will it fit through their front door etc. Why are you interested in working there - design, innovation etc. What have you done before that has any relevance to this job. Who is you favourite furniture designer - now and in the past
  3. SO what do you use to clean furniture with?? (POLISH)
  4. why you want to work there. however, the questions i hate are standard to any job - the 'what sort of person are you' 'how would your friends describe you' i hate those kind of questions.. be ready for those. and good luck with it !
  5. I don't know, but I would prepare by having the answers to questions the customers might ask, such as: What sort of fabric/leather is this, and how do I clean it? What colors would go with my room? What is inside the cushions? Will this piece make my room look bigger or smaller? What colors are the current trend? How thick is this glass, and what is this glass treatment called? What kind of wood is this? (Know your wood: Aside from the names, know if it's hard, soft, resilient, easily scratched, suitable for damp or dry climates?) Also learn about the types of wood, metals, glass/glass treatments and upholstery fillings as well as the name of every piece of furniture. (Some of them have fancy names, so be sure you pronounce them correctly.) Know what types of furniture to recommend for different types of families. Although it's a modern furniture shop, it would help to know about past periods of furniture and past trends. Good luck! P.S. I read that designers usually use 60%, 30% and 10% of one color each in a room, for the right balance.
  6. Selling is mostly about you, not the product. Learning the nuances of furniture selling is mainly common sense. If you've sold before, just remember the 5 basic steps. Open the sale, Ask questions, Sell features and benefits, Overcome objections, Close the sale. That's exactly what you do at a job interview too. p.s. If it's Furniture Village, I play golf with the Managing Director and owner. ;)
  7. I am a salesman. I am presuming that you will be applying for a sales position. There are 7 steps to selling. No. 1 is Product knowledge. Show initiative and they will teach you the rest. Show the ability to Communicate. Politeness, flair and understanding are essential. When you are being interviewed answer the questions comprehensively or show initiative. Be confident and try to make the interviewer comfortable, just remember that he wants you to work for his company. Type into your browser, " the seven steps to selling," learn a little about these and let the interviewer know that you are aware of them. Good luck !! Edit: The guy above has some good points.
