what are good places to shop for cheap furniture for a new apartment?
I am a college student moving into a new apartment. I am not wanting to spend tons of money buying things because I will just move in one year on my own and want to decorate and redo tons of things. I need to find a dresser, desk (one pratical for a laptop) and a sofa.

- IKEA
- IKEA has really good deals for the person starting out or starting over.
- thrift stores consignment shops classified ads in the paper Ikea Target Walmart
- when I had my apartment when younger I would go through the classified ad's on the internet and in the local newspaper to find cheap furniture.
- Try furniture rental main stores where they sell the used furniture. It has been cleaned and is in pretty good shape. The furniture typically is a good quality so it will last. I personally think it is better than the furniture from the discount furniture stores and at a lower price.
- go to your local good will or salvation army. they have furniture for cheap. and it all is in pretty good condition. they have couches for as little as $10. it also helps out the people that the goodwill and salvation army earn money for! good luck!
- Places like Rooms to Go and Kanes furniutre stores have outlets you can shop at. Go to the store locator, and it will tell you which ones are clearance centers. I've shopped at Rooms to Go clearance before and got a huge armoire for only $388! You have to have a good eye and go often.
- Some places have package deals for college students. Here's one: http://www.homelement.com/products/Package-Deal/Homelegance-Space-Saver-Package_4398.html Good luck!
