Shop Fittings for a fantastic shop? Hello there, Me and my partner are starting a gentlemans clothing shop in our local town. Before we set up the shop, we need a rough idea of all the fittings (mannequins, lighting, flooring, sound system etc) in the shop so we can account for it in our budget and prepare for it. We came up with many things for our list of fittings, but we think we would get a much more accurate, definitive list if we asked users of Yahoo to make a typical shop fittings list + price just to see if we've missed anything. If you can, please make a list of typical shop fittings + price as it would really help us. Don't worry about budget, be fairly realistic but we have a large fittings budget as we are a "high end" Men's designer clothing shop. Many Thanks Albert Borgstein, Genti Clothing

Why do clothes shops have different size fittings for women? I am usually a size 8 - 10, depending on which shop. Today, I have had to buy a pair of size 4 jeans. If my Mum sees them she will think I'm anorexic. Why can't all shops keep to a standard size fitting? suggested category: Home & Garden, decorating and remodelling
What are the people that work on the shop floor actually called (JOBS)? I know this is a really silly question but i want to start preparing my self when it comes to looking for a summer job. :] (it'll also be my first job) i though they are called store managers then i was told they hire and fire people ?? so what are the people that say "can i help you with anything" and they walk around the shop floor.. in the fittings rooms.. what are they actually callllled !? thanks so much in advance guys x Riri.
Central vacuum systems are overpriced, is there a way to convert a shop vac to a central vac? Like put it in a central closet or garage, and run hoses through the walls, and have it so it can be activated from the point of use (turned on). How would you wire it for that? My shop vac is SO powerful, I could build a stand for it up off the ground, and run hoses somehow. The one that comes with it is not long enough, how could you adapt a hose length? I only want the simple fittings, nothing fancy. Any ideas?
Can anyone recommend a good wedding dress shop in Sydney? I'm wanting to spend between $2,500 and $3,500 and I don't want to go out west as I live close to the city and would be a hassle trekking out there for fittings etc. I'm thinking either in the CBD or else in Leichhardt. If you've had a good experience buying your wedding dress from a shop where the staff are down to earth and provide good service, I'd love to hear from you!! Thanks heaps!

gsx1400 - aluminium or stainless steel for braided brake fittings? ive been advised be my local bike shop that aluminium brake fittings will not be up to scratch for the weight of my bike, and i should have stainless steel ones instead. now im a mechanical engineer and i cant see why the aluminium ones wont be able to hack it. any views? by the way, i was after aluminium ones as they can come in a variety of colours to match my bike.
We are selling our house and I have a question about "fixtures and fittings"? When we moved in I saw the previous owners leave with the loft ladder. Not a great issue, I replaced it with one from a DIY shop. It cost about £30. Now the house I am moving to doesn't have one. The fixtures and fittings list we filled in for their solicitors, didn't detail a loft ladder, so it's not part of the sale. Can I take it with me? Or am I being incredibly petty?
How will my out-of-town bridesmaids get their dresses/fittings? I have two bridesmaids that live out of town (300km away) and I am wondering how they will be able to attend fittings and such? I thought about sharing information between a big name shop where I am and one where they are, but they don't have any big name shops in or even near their small town! I do want all the dresses similar, exept maybe the necklines (they can choose that part). What can I do???
Who is the best shop fitting supplier company and vintage shop design ideas please? I am opening a vintage clothing shop next month and need a supplier for my shop fittings and cash registar ect. Who do you reccommend? I have rails already so will need display cabinets and maybe some built in units for displaying accessories and shoes. Also, I cannot decide what final design on the shop to go for... I am in a seaside location and the shops building is very old. I will be selling Pre 1950s items so I dont know whether to go for the pin up girl theme, or a more quaint looking shop with maybe floral wallpaper ect?
I want to open my own shop, I am only 19.? I want to open my own shop in the town where I live, but have no idea how to go about it. I dont have any money to buy a shop or even rent a shop, and no money to buy the products I want to sell. Do I have to save for these things or can I get a loan? Otherwise it will be years until I can do this. Is it better to carry on with another job at the same time to support it, and get a friend to work voluntarily? And get a loan to buy the shop and the shop fittings?
Where is best place to buy toilet seat in S'pore? Answers appreciated to where I can buy a standard toilet seat cover in Singapore? Can someone give me exact address of shop please rather than "any toilet/kitchen fittings shop". Also, please let me know average cost. I just need a basic one.
What exactly is the job of a personal attendant for a wedding?? My best friend is getting married and asked me this question the other day. Is this job supposed to be assigned to someone close....i.e. family member/friend?? And what is their duty? She is running out of people to ask to be in her wedding and was wondering if this job HAD to be filled. Also, from all the dress shopping and fittings, we have become pretty familar with the lady at the dress shop. Someone suggested she ask her to be an attendant and possibly could pay her....what do you think??
Whats involved in setting up a shop business? I want to open a shop - something like a £1 discount store. Just one shop to start with. I've checked out a couple of local commercial properties, annual rental rates are approx. £18,000. It's my first business so I'm literally starting from scratch - 1 thing I will no doubt probably need is 6 months rent up front. Things I have thought about: 6 months rent up front fixture, fittings new shop front labour stock Do I pay council business rates up front or on a monthly basis? I've seen a figure for £9,500. Is that per annum? Surely not monthly! The listing was quite unclear. Thanks in advance everyone - would prefer personal comments and experience rather than web links!

Can i use Hyd fittings for natural gas? Obviously, the hyd fittings have more than adequate psi ratings as natural gas is rated in ounces. I just didnt know if the hyd fittings were made to close enough tolerances to not allow for leakage. I am making a quick disconnect hose for my generator to my house gas supply. Its a 1" flex line. All my local shop has it 1" parker hyd fittings. I would rather go this route, but dont know if it will seal properly. My only other option would be to put unions on either side of it. I will leak test it when its all said and done, its just i dont think they will take the fittings back if i use them. They are pretty $$ as well. Trying to get a little insight before i put the wrench to them. thanks Edit: I dont "think" the hose i have is rated for natural gas. Mind you, it would be temporary for power outages. The hose is the goodyear gorilla hose. I looked it up and its rated "A" for oil resistance.

Confused about bra fittings? Help, girls only please? Are professional bra fittings sometimes wrong? Does anyone have any experience of them; are there any girls who've had several fittings and can tell me how they work? It's just that a school peer (she's not really a friend lmao) told me that she went for a bra fitting at a shop in a mall. She told me that, according to the fitters, her band size is 32. Yet her shoulders and back look waay wider than that! It just made me think that me, my sister and mum (who have all never been professionally fitted) are wearing the wrong band sizes, and of course that influences the cup size too. My sister wears a 34 band size, yet her back and torso looks narrower than this girl's, who is accordingly a 32. I don't get it! Can anyone tell me how accurate professional fittings are, and how measuring works? Can mistakes be made at professional fittings? thanks. =)
is this enough time?? dress fittings!? Hey all, as some of you know i went to see my wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses on saturday as they had arrived in the shop (yay!) i was so nervous i was shaking before i walked in! i sat blindfolded while all of my girls put their dresses on 1 by one, they were all joking around saying things like 'arghh! theyre bright pink!/ theyre too short!' etc! but i didnt fall for it! once they all had theirs on, i got lead into the stall and got my dress on, so i hadnt seen them, they hadnt seen me! i then revealed and as soon as i saw them i burst out crying! it was so emotional because the reality hit me like a brick wall! i so didnt want to take my dress off even though it needs altering! i was so in love! anyways i finally got changed and we discussed fittings, the lady said we should only need one or 2 fittings because the sizes are pretty spot on. so she suggested booking for january (my wedding is 1st week of may) i wanted to book for this december, but she insisted i waited til january, so i booked for the 22nd. is this enough time? im worried that the dresses wont be ready in time, or the alterations wont be spot on, they do the alterations in store so theres no time for sending to seamsteress. also, i have had a lace back put into my dress so i can literally pull the waist in to form more of a desireable shape, when the lady did my dress up she only loosely laced it, of course its up to me how i wear my dress but should i comment to her at the fitting that i plan on pulling the holy s**t out of the back to make sure im securely tied in? im thinking that if she lets it out a bit like she plans to then it will be too big? please help thank you :D
How do these UK shoe sizes work? I just went with my 9 and 11 year old cousins to get school shoes. Both boys have cute (mega ticklish) feet and they were meassured in the shop as width fitting E (for the youngest) and D (for the eldest). What do these width fittings mean and are these fittings unusual for boys?
what does it mean to dream of a burglary? I have a shop. In my dream I arrived at the shop and it had been cleaned out - stock, fittings, furniture/desks and all. The burglar had left a note on the front door, (a torn art poster) with his name - a name I don't know - Archie Ariel.
tailors dummy? I am a recent textile graduate and I really really want to get a stockman / k&l tailors dummy- in a size 8, it doesn't matter how old it is, or what state the fabric is in (as I can cover the fabric). Trouble is these things cost like £500 and I am broke- really. I work for £5.05 an hour (and I am over 18.! (Iam 25).) The reason I realy want a fixed tailors dummy is that in the past I have owned 2 adjustable tailors dummies but I found them difficult to work with as the dress-makers pins need to go in at an angle, and they have gaps where the segments dont meet smoothly. Plus the reason I dont have them anymore is because they snapped when fell- so flimsy. I have given up on ebay as the good tailors dummies seem to get to about one hundred pounds, and I dont have this kind of money. The cheaper ones are made out of polystyrene and have unnatural figures- (shop fittings with VERY pert boobs, beyonce bum.) I live in London and am willing to travel anywhere in the uk

What is a fabulous way to thank an awesome bridesmaid? My maid of honor was incredible! I thought she would hold a bouquet for me and perhaps throw a shower, but she took being a bridesmaid to a whole new level! She threw parties, went shopping with my mother for a dress, created floral arrangements, made me breakfast on the wedding day, drove me everywhere, went to my dress fittings, anticipated my every need, coordinated details with the other bridesmaids, transported the wedding gifts, the list is so long. I'd like to thank her in a huge way. Any ideas? I have $100 I could spend. Thank you in advance!
im stuck on my assignment can anybody help? In 1996, Christopher bought the freehold of an empty shop for £95,000. Title to the property is registered at The Land Registry. The property included living accommodation (a flat) above the shop. Christopher borrowed money from his Uncle Stanley both to finance the purchase and to cover the cost of fitting out the shop and redecorating the flat. The total sum he borrowed was £125,000. He gave Uncle Stanley a first legal charge over the freehold as security for repayment of the loan and Uncle Stanley registered the charge at The Land Registry. Having completed the purchase, Christopher opened up as a newsagent/general store in the shop premises and moved into the living accommodation above. With the money borrowed from Uncle Stanley he refitted the shop, installing new shelving (costing £5,000) and refrigerators and display cabinets (costing £10,000). He also installed a central heating boiler and radiators in the flat at a cost of a further £5,000. In 2001, Christopher found himself facing a financial crisis and to stave off bankruptcy he borrowed £60,000 from NatWest, giving them a second charge over the freehold, which was duly registered. However, Christopher’s financial fortunes did not improve and his trade creditors (his suppliers) have now obtained a bankruptcy order against him. Christopher has paid all interest on loans up to date but has not repaid any of the loan capital. The business is now valued at £165,000, which includes (a) the freehold of the shop and the flat (the valuers say £120,000, excluding shop fittings and the flat’s central heating system), (b) shop fittings – the shelving, refrigerators, display cases, etc (valued at cost) (c) the central heating in the flat (the valuers say £5,000 for this) (c) the goodwill of the business (the valuers say £25,000). Assuming that the business is sold by Christopher’s trustee in bankruptcy for £165,000 as per the valuation, how much will (a) Uncle Stanley (b) NatWest and (c) the trustee in bankruptcy receive respectively from the proceeds of sale?

Is it wrong for a client to do this? Was she being unethical? I am a Tailor. I make custom-made or made-to-order clothes for my clients. And, I know many people who also do the same business that I do.....tailor friends, owning shops, doing dressmaking and tailoring, specializing in made-to-order clothes, etc. And, because we live in a small town, everybody knows everybody; therefore, some of my customers are also customers of some of my fellow tailors who also have their own shops. One day a client came to my shop bringing with her some of the clothes another shop had made for her. She claims she has brought these to that shop like 3 times to have some fittings adjusted but they just couldn't get the fit right! Now, she wants me to adjust the fitting of these clothes telling me she'll pay like as if she ordered new clothes from me as long as we get the fit right. Now, I've heard that it is unethical for a client to have her clothes adjusted or altered by a shop that didn't make them originally. True? False?
